Ok, I know I haven't been on here in :iconforeverpinkieplz: but I told y'all it was gonna happen, so yeah... Don't hate me... ^^;

Anyhoo, I have been working on this animation and I am SOOO CLOSE to being done, but I have run into a speed bump...

You know that sound the characters make when they get surprised?
That kinda springish sound?
The one that Pinkie Pie makes in the first episode when she sees Twilight Sparkle for the first time, right before she jumps into the air and gasps?
This one?: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq2MTJ…

Well, yeah... I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE!!... ANYWHEHEHEHERE!!... :iconraritycryplz:

HOW CAN I POSSIBLY FINISH MY LATEST CREATION IF I CAN'T FIND IT?!

And so, I come to you, upon my knees from which you will find no arrows protruding:
Does anypony on earth (or equestria) know where I could get this sound effect?!
You guys are amazing, so I know somepony is smarter at searching than me! (Doesn't take much...)

So yeah, please help. I will forever love you!!

Oh yeah, here's a screen cap: blackgryph0n.deviantart.com/ar…

LOVE Y'ALL!! :tighthug:

~BlackGryph0n

EDIT: Thanks for all your suggestions everypony! Y'all are :icondashsoawesomeplz: !
I was able to create the SF on my own and it sounds pretty dern close!! :smoking:
Now that y'all know that though, I'll bet you will scrutinise the crap out of it... ^^;
Thanks for everything guys!!! :huggle:

You could always record your own sound effects
I did know a site that has tons of sound effects, but I can't remember it's name. XD

Why not ask some other famous bronys on youtube? TheLivingTombstone works with sounds alot maybe he knows? Or if you got better ideas, this was just a suggestion.

I realize you recreated the sound already but I'll say what I think it sounds like anyway. A bed spring when you jump on it. Or at least, it sounds like mine.

[link] Here ya go, it contains all the sounds from Kryospawns soundbaorad back from version 4.3, but seeing as pinkie's gasp is around since episode one, it's in there. Yes there IS the spring sound in that soundclip, so it it doesn't work my apologies. Also, it's still a great reference to have a host of soundclips at your fingertips...Good Luck with the final project!

Sounds like some usual Noise to me, or maybe detuned and distorted Oszillator sounds.
Not that hard to create. :)
Right now I'm at school, so I can't help that much. When I'm home I'll try create something like this, good practise for me as a producer :D
If I succeed, I'll send you a wav sample =)

A few possible sources of that sound (assuming you mean the rattly metallic sound when Pinkie first jumps up, before the zip):

1. An old-fashioned steel slat bedframe
2. Springs from a spring-based pectoral muscle exerciser/chest-hair remover
3. Closing a screen door onto the piston-stop (rather than letting it hit the doorframe)
4. Whacking a spoke bicycle-wheel that's been removed from the bike
5. Dropping a Slinky (the old steel ones you could use to garrote your little brother DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT I ONLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT)

depending on the file type you can use realplayer to convert the clip to an audio file and use that instead?
hope this helped.

Sorry dude. I have absolutely no idea where to find sound effects. Ask other animators for help. They might have a clue.

Look at the one that says "Sudden Discovery.mp3" and try that. Not quite the same, but it's the closest I found anywhere. (It's a decent site, lots of retro sfx though) Maybe you could remix it? Maybe speed up the sample and pitch-shift it down a little?

That probably didn't help any lol, but best of luck!

I'm sure if you look hard enough or deep enough into Google you might find a website that provides sound clips of various sound effects from the show. If not...well, could find a way to get it anyway XD

Aaaactually, I think I recognize that instrument, it sounds like the "galaxy pad" or whatever on my Casio, just pitchbent and faded. :o Though I doubt this version came from a Casio, might just be a distorted cymbal like others have suggested.

I don't know that one. Until I played the clip, I thought you were talking about an ordinary pizzicato string pluck. (if you listen to the audio for Cheering Lessons: Take 2, it's what I used for the *hooftap* sound effect, just used the pitchwheel on my Casio to make it less instrument-sounding) This one sounds like it might be a metal hammer on a guitar or piano string though.

Instruments with strings can make all sorts of cool noises- the TARDIS sound is originally a key being dragged along a piano string, only played backwards!

Well, you could use a slinky. It makes a noise somewhat like it, if my memories of childhood experiments are intact :D

Well, the 5.1 Audio of the iTunes files is kinda.. not very good.
Sounds and Voice are on center channel, rest is used for BGM.

I got you a snipped of the thing, maybe you can do something with that.
What I could not do was EQ pinkies voice out of it, the frequencies are just too close for that. Then again I'm no pro :)

Ah, use rightclick > Save As when DA warns you that you're leaving the site.

I think the sound is kind of a distorted cymbal.. if no one comes up with anything better, you can try searching for a similar cymbal sound :)

I gave a listen to it... there's one note in the background that slightly plays during the boing, so it would have to be edited out. I used keep-tube to pull a mp3 of the clip, and no amount of fiddling got rid of it. The boing DOES end cleanly just before the gasp, though.

Thanks for trying!
to be honest though, I would need the "boing" to last a little longer than that... You can't really hear it because the gasp is too loud, but the effect draws out a bit more. (You can hear the whole thing in the scene from applebuck season where applejack wakes up just before twilight teleports in front of her.)

Now, if you have an old mattress around, or an exercise machine that has a spring counterweight, you can get that sound by plucking a spring while there's a good amount of tension on it... unfortunately, I don't have a falling apart mattress, and we recently got rid of our stationary bicycle.

Someone who knows how to use FL Studio could probably extrat the sound from the raw sound clip.

I KNEW I should have learned sooner! Then I could have been that guy!

I thought of that, but isn't it on the same channel as the gasp that overlaps it?

you can try subtracting the gasp from it (or negate and add). If both audio streams are clear enough that should remove it. Some hints about where to get that gasp clean: [link]

But then I would need the Gasp by itself, right?
Also, there is BGM...

"The Gasp" is recycled many times throughout the show. You may be able to extract it from some other episode in "pure" form.
