A composite of three, 30sec bulb exposures during a severe thunder storm in Sierra Vista, AZ. (Special thanks to MeaninglessThoughts for graciously removing noise for me! You Rock Man!! )
This shot is amazing. Plain & Simple. As a photographer I understand the concept of stacking exposures. I would never consider this technique to be "Photo-Manipulation." At least no more than Cross Processing an image is to be considered a photo-manipulation technique. Stacking exposures during post processing was around long before Photoshop or digital photography ever existed. I have noted this very technique being used by National Geographic Photographers, especially when it comes to photographing the Night's Sky.
For the sheer fact that everything in this photograph was captured in REAL-TIME (over a 90 second period) it is considered "Photography."
Give credit where it's due. This image is fantastic.
